TM 5-4310-386-14 2-18.  Operation in Salt Water Areas. a. Avoid  direct  contact  with  salt  water  to  prevent  corrosion.    If  salt  water  does  come  in  contact  with  the  unit, rinse the unit with clean, fresh water. b. Repair  any  paint  damage,  such  as  cracks  and  chips.    Apply  standard  issue  rustproofing  material  to  all exposed  ferrous  metal  (steel)  surfaces.    If  rustproofing  material  is  not  available,  apply  a  light  film  of  oil  or grease to all exposed metal surfaces. 2-19.  Operation at High Altitudes. a. Engine  power  output  will  decrease  to  about  3-1/2  percent  for  every  1000  feet  above  sea  level.    The compressor will have a similar loss of operating efficiency. b. Service the engine/compressor air cleaner often to minimize this loss of efficiency. 2-18
