General. This section contains procedures to place the Diving Air Compressor into either short or long termstorage.3-52. Short Term Storage.a.Drain the engine and compressor crankcase.b.Fill the engine and compressor crankcase to the proper level with the recommended viscosity and grade oil.c.Fill fuel tank with the recommended grade of fuel oil. Operate the engine for two minutes at 1200 rpm and noload.NOTEDo not drain fuel system or crankcases after this run.d.Service the engine and compressor air cleaners.e.If freezing weather is expected during storage period, add a high boiling point type antifreeze solution to radiatorassembly.WARNINGWear faceshield and clear immediate area of personnel when using low pressure air for maintenance procedures.f.Clean the entire exterior of the engine (except the electrical system) with fuel oil and dry with compressed air.g.Clean the compressor and air receiver tanks with nonionic detergent and rinse with clean distilled water.h.Any exterior rust should be removed and painted with non toxic paint in accordance with accepted army divingpractices.i.Seal all of the engine and compressor openings. The materials used must be waterproof, vaporproof andpossess sufficient physical strength to resist puncture and damage from the expansion of entrapped air.3-178
