(figure 5-2)(1)Remove two screws (1) and lockwashers (2) and remove upper thermostat housing (3), gasket (4), andthermostat (5).WARNINGDry cleaning solvent PD-680 used to clean parts is potentially dangerous to personnel and property. Avoidrepeated and prolonged skin contact. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat. Flash point ofsolvent is 100-138°F (38-60°C).(2)Clean all items with dry cleaning solvent and dry thoroughly.(3)Inspect thermostat (5) and replace if cracked, bent, or otherwise damaged.(4)Inspect upper thermostat housing (3) and lower thermostat housing (6) and repair minor cracks by weldingor replace a damaged item.(5)Ensure all gasket surfaces are clean and old gasket material removed.(6)Install thermostat (5), gasket (4), and upper thermostat housing (3) and secure with two screws (1) andlockwashers (2). Torque screws to 13-17 Ib-ft (18-23 Nm).5-8
