b. Cleaning and inspection.
WARNING: Dry cleaning solvent, P-D-680, used to clean parts is
potentially dangerous to personnel and property. Avoid
repeated and prolonged skin contact by wearing rubber or
solvent impermeable gloves when handling the solvent or
material wet with drycleaning solvent. Wash hands immediately
after exposure with soap and water and use a lanolin based
skin cream to prevent skin drying. Do not use near open flame
or excessive heat. Flash point of solvent is 1000F (380C).
Ensure that ventilation adequate to reduce solvent vapor
concentrations below acceptable threshold limit values is
provided.
Wash the safety valve with cleaning solvent, P-D-680. Inspect for cracks in the
body of the valve. Inspect the threads for wear or damage. Replace a defective
safety relief valve.
I
NOTE: This valve is preset at 80 psi (5.6 kg/sq cm). A defective
valve should be replaced rather than repaired.
c. Installation.
(1) Install the intercooler safety relief valve in the compressor cylinder
head by turning valve counterclockwise.
(2) Recharge air system.
Step 2. Check if air receiver tank drain valve is loose.
The air tank drain valve is underneath the tank and if found to be loose, tighten it.
If it is found to be defective in any way, replace it.
Step 3. Check if air hose or fittings are leaking.
Tighten any loose fittings and replace a leaking air hose.
