Pistons, connecting rods and
caps are matched parts and
seat with the operation of the

assembly. Mark each connect-
ing rod and cap, piston, and
bearing component to be sure
they match when they are
reassembled.
Be carefuI not to score pistons.
1. Piston, connecting rod
Clamp in vise or suitable
fixture.

Remove from pistons (3)
Be careful not to break rings.
2. Piston rings (1)
Remove from pistons (3) by

squeezing with pliers and pull
out.
Remove from connecting rods

Remove by pressing out of
connecting rods (4).

Separate from caps (7) by
removing bolts (8).

Do not remove dipper from
connecting rod caps. See para
