5-6. CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS, OIL SEAL/ASSEMBLY

The assembly of bearings to the crankshaft and oil seal to the crankcase.

REMARKS

ACTION

Be careful not to get sealant on bearing surfaces of oil seal.

Apply sealant to outside edges

1. Oil seal (1)

of oil seal.

Install in crankcase by driving

2. Oil seal (1)

squarely with block of wood

and hammer.

CAUTION

Crankshaft must be supported

in a suitable fixture when

installing bearings to prevent

damage to crankshaft.

Clamp in suitable fixture.

3. Crankshaft (2)

NOTE

Bearings should be immersed

in mineral oil heated to a

temperature of 600 fahren-

heit prior to installing.

Press onto crankshaft
