WARNING
Cleaning solvent, Federal Specification P-D-680, is both toxic and flammable. Keep off skin.
Use only in a well-ventilated area and avoid prolonged breathing of vapors. Keep away from
open flame.
(1) Keep it clean: Dirt, grease, oil, and debris may cover up a serious problem. Clean as you work and as
needed. Use cleaning solvent (Federal Specification P-D-680) to clean metal surfaces. Use soap and
water when you clean cloth, rubber, painted surfaces, or plastic material.
(2) Bolts, nuts, and screws: Check that they are not loose, missing, bent, or broken. Look for chipped paint,
bare metal, or rust around bolt heads. Tighten any that you find loose.
(3) Wields: Look for cracked or broken welds and cracks in parent metal. If you find a bad weld, report it to
Intermediate Maintenance.
(4) Electric wires and connectors: Look for cracked or broken insulation, bare wires, and loose or broken
