2-13. General. This section contains special operating procedures and precautions that should be used when operating
the equipment in unusual weather conditions.
2-14. Operation in Dusty or Sandy Areas. The procedures for operating the Diving Air Compressor are the same as
under usual conditions including the following special instructions.
a.
Protect the equipment from dust and sand. Take advantage of all natural barriers which could protect the
equipment from blowing dust or sand. Install a canvas cover when the unit is not in operation.
b.
Keep fuel clean. Strain the fuel before adding it to the tank. Make sure fuel storage and transfer cans are clean.
c.
Check and service the engine and compressor air cleaners often.
d.
Clean the engine, compressor and compressor cooling fan often. Wipe with clean cloth dampened with an
approved cleaning solvent.
2-15. Operation in Rainy, Humid, or Salt Air Conditions . The procedures for operating the Diving Air Compressor
are the same as under usual conditions including the following special instructions.
a.
Store equipment in a sheltered area when it is not in use.
b.
Keep fuel clean and free of water. Keep fuel tank full when the unit is not in use to minimize condensation.
c.
Whenever possible protect the equipment from direct rain fall when it is operating. Cover the equipment with a
tarpaulin suspended about 3 feet above the equipment.
d.
Avoid direct contact with salt water. If salt water does come in contact with the equipment, rinse the equipment
with clean fresh water.
e.
Repair any paint damage, such as cracks and chips. Apply standard issue rustproofing material to all exposed
ferrous metal (steel) surfaces. If rustproofing material is not available, apply a light film of oil or grease to all exposed
metal surfaces.
2-16. Operation in Extreme Heat. The procedures for operating the Diving Air Compressor are the same as under
usual conditions including the following special instructions.
a.
Do not operate the equipment if the ambient temperature exceeds 125°F (50C).
