STORAGE BATTERY INSPECTION.WARNINGRemove all Jewelry such as dog tags, rings, bracelets, etc. If Jewelry or disconnected batteryground cable contacts battery terminal, a direct short will result. Failure to follow properdisconnection procedures will result in serious injury or death to personnel or equipmentdamage.Battery acid (electrolyte) is extremely dangerous. Always wear goggles and rubber gloveswhen performing battery checks or inspections. Serious injury to personnel will result ifbattery acid contacts skin or eyes.DO NOT perform battery system checks or inspections while smoking or near fire, flames, orsparks. Batteries may explode, causing serious injury or death to personnel.NOTERefer to TM 9-6140-200-14 for additional instructions on inspecting batteries.Repeat steps a through c for each battery.a.Visually inspect battery (1) for damage and corrosion. Notify your supervisor if damage or corrosion ispresent.b.Inspect two battery terminals (3) for looseness or damage.
