3-2. GENERAL.
a.
This section provides information for identifying and correcting malfunctions which may develop while operating
the compressor unit.
b.
The Troubleshooting Symptom Index in paragraph 3-3 lists the common malfunctions which may occur, and will
refer you to the proper page in Table 3-1 for a troubleshooting procedure.
c.
Refer to Chapter I, Section III for a better understanding of how a particular system operates. If you are unsure
of the location of an item mentioned in troubleshooting, refer to paragraph 1-9 or to the maintenance task where the item
is replaced.
d.
This manual cannot list all malfunctions that may occur, nor all the tests or inspections and corrective actions. If
a malfunction is not listed, or is not corrected by a listed corrective action, notify your supervisor.
e.
When troubleshooting a malfunction:
(1)
Locate the symptom or symptoms in paragraph 3-3 that best describe the malfunction.
(2)
Turn to the page in Table 3-1 where the troubleshooting procedures for the malfunction in question are
described. Headings at the top of each page show how each troubleshooting procedure is organized: MALFUNCTION,
TEST OR INSPECTION (in step number order), and CORRECTIVE ACTION.
(3)
Perform each step in the order listed until the malfunction is corrected. DO NOT perform any maintenance
task unless the troubleshooting procedure tells you to do so.
