Turn crankshaft until cap screws (Figure 6-44, 1) can be removed.

Turn engine front side up.
CAUTION
Do not allow camshaft lobes to drag an its honed bearing bore surfaces
while removing camshaft from cylinder block.

Remove cap screws (1). Pull camshaft (Figure 6-45, 1) straight up, out of cylinder block. Remove thrust
plate (2).
