LOCATION/lTEM
Do not overtighten idle or needle valves.
1. Carburetor
a. Turn needle valve (1) and idle valve (2)
clockwise until they are just seated.
Air cleaner must be installed when running engine. The
use of lead-free gasoline produces fewer combustion de-
posits, but may shorten valve life if adjustment is too
lean.
b. Open needle valve (1) 1-1/2 turns
counterclockwise.
c. Open idle valve (2) 1 turn counter-
clockwise.
d. Start engine and allow to warm up.
e. Adjust idle valve (2) in 1/8-turn incre-
ments until maximum speed of engine
is obtained, then 1/8-turn counter-
clockwise.
Idle adjustment is covered under governor controls, para 4-32.
