Replacement. Replace defective parts as follows: (If a part is not defective it is not
n e c e s s a r y to replace it.)
(1) Removal
( a ) Remove four bolts securing recoil starter assembly (1) to flywheel shroud. Place
r e c o i l starter assembly to one side.
( b ) Remove four bolts, two brackets, and strut securing the flywheel shroud. Pull shroud
f r o m the engine far enough to disconnect wire from coaxial filter.
( c ) Remove coaxial filter and ignition switch from flywheel shroud.
( d ) Remove spark plug lead from spark plug.
(e) Remove cylinder head cover (2) from engine.
( f ) Remove one bolt securing cylinder baffle (3) and disengage end of baffle from
cylinder.
( g ) Remove three bolts securing muffler cover (4) and pull cover from muffler.

Installation
O b t a i n replacement parts as necessary.
(a)
L o c a t e muffler cover (4) on muffler and secure with three bolts.
(b)
E n g a g e cylinder baffle (3) in position on cylinder and secure with one bolt.

M a t c h mounting holes in cover
(d)
L o c a t e cylinder head cover (2) on top of engine.

C o n n e c t spark plug lead.
(f)
I n s t a l l coaxial filter and ignition switch in flywheel shroud.
H o l d flywheel shroud close to its location on engine and connect ignition wire to

S e c u r e flywheel shroud with four bolts, two brackets, and the strut.

I n s t a l l recoil starter (1) with four bolts.
